Designed and planned by Álvaro Siza Vieira in 1977, the first architect in the country to receive a Pritzker Prize and recognized with an honorary doctorate from the University of Évora (2015), the Malagueira neighborhood, a suburban community on the outskirts of Évora, has been the subject of study by a research team from the Center for Art History and Artistic Research (CHAIA), led by Pedro Guilherme and Sofia Salema, professors in the Department of Architecture at the University of Évora.
