Population aging is a reality in Portugal and, more markedly, throughout the Alentejo region, which makes raising awareness about ageism in this territory even more fundamental. Isabel Bezelga, Ana Moya, and Daniela Salazar, researchers at the Centre for Art History and Artistic Research (CHAIA) at the University of Évora, are part of the European project “Age Against The Machine,” supported by the European Commission under the CERV – Network of Cities (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values) program. This intergenerational community collaboration reflects on age-related sociocultural prejudices in the European context, aging, and relevant discriminatory and gender issues, through the language of community theatre and interactive performative methods.
